Please note: the high potential development scheme will not be accepting any new applications until later in the year.
The high potential development scheme is currently being revised by the National Policing Improvement Agency (NPIA). The revised scheme will launch in April 2008.
If you would like any further information, please contact the Police Leadership Services team at the NPIA on 020 7021 7070.
Here's what you can expect to earn in the police high potential development scheme.
If you are accepted into the high potential development (HPD) scheme, you will start off earning the same as any other new officer. Take a look at the police officer section for more information about pay and benefits.
The difference is that, if you fulfil your potential through the opportunities offered to you by the scheme, your salary is likely to rise faster and higher than those of the general rank and file.
When you start, you will be earning approximately £20,397 (more if you're working in London). If you reach the rank of inspector, you could be earning a salary starting at around £41,034 (more in London), and further promotions will lead to greater salary increases.
Benefits and pension opportunities are the same as those of other police officers.
